For two campers, start with the width of both inflated sleeping pads, then compare doors, headroom and complete carrying load. Floating Cloud 2 and Taiji 2 offer separate entrances, but their retailer dimensions leave little or no margin for two 64 cm rectangular pads. Taiji 3 is worth considering when indoor comfort is more important than minimizing size and weight. This guide selects among these 3F UL Gear options; it does not claim a market-wide test winner. A well-matched larger tent can be a better two-person purchase than a nominal 2P model that does not fit your equipment.
| Model | Retailer inner width | Two 64 cm pads: nominal result | Decision |
|---|---|---|---|
| Floating Cloud 2 | 125 cm in diagram | 128 cm required; 3 cm too wide | Do not assume fit; confirm SKU |
| Taiji 2 | 130 cm | 2 cm remaining | Very limited nominal margin |
| Taiji 3 | 210 cm | 82 cm remaining | More floor room; greater load and pitch area |
This arithmetic uses stated floor dimensions, not a physical fit test. Cross-site dimensions differ for Floating Cloud 2 and Taiji 2. Seams, wall slope and inflation may reduce useful clearance.
Two doors solve access, not floor width
Separate entrances let each occupant use an exit without crossing the other's sleeping area. They are also useful for organizing vestibule storage. But they do not change the floor dimensions. Choose a pad-compatible layout first, then consider door and vestibule convenience. Keep both exits usable after storing packs and securing lines.
Decide what “comfortable for two” means
A couple using narrower tapered pads may accept a compact layout that two wide-pad users reject. Tall sleepers also need clearance at bag height, not just sufficient length on the ground. If sitting side by side or changing clothes indoors is important, inspect roof shape as well as maximum peak height. The retailer gives Taiji 2 a 115 cm inner peak and Taiji 3 a 125 cm peak; Floating Cloud 2's drawing labels 110 cm inside.
Compare setup for shared trips
Taiji 2 has a connected-inner/fly pitching description that may suit rainy arrivals. Floating Cloud 2 offers a different frame arrangement and a lower retailer headline minimum. For that detailed choice, use the two-person comparison. If floor space is the deciding factor, move directly to a layout comparison with Taiji 3 instead of arguing over small headline weight differences.
Budget the group load honestly
The retailer minimums are 1621 g for Floating Cloud 2, 1760 g for Taiji 2 and 2260 g for Taiji 3. Complete current retailer kit weights were not verified. Sharing poles and fabric can distribute the load but does not change total group weight. Record who carries which components and include anchors, bags, footprint if used and repair equipment.
Best for / Not ideal for
Floating Cloud 2: best for a confirmed compact two-person layout with separate doors; not ideal for assuming two 64 cm rectangles fit. Taiji 2: best for matched-pad shared use and its setup sequence; not ideal for expecting spare width around two wide pads. Taiji 3: best for comfort-led pairs with enough pitch space; not ideal for strict solo-style weight targets.
Frequently asked questions
Should I buy a 3P tent for two?
It is reasonable when the extra floor area matters and you accept the carrying and campsite trade-offs.
Can I quote the brand dimensions instead?
Only with the source and version attached. Do not silently replace a retailer dimension with a larger conflicting figure.
Is there a guaranteed all-in sub-2 kg option here?
Not established by the checked current retailer data. Ask for the complete selected package to be weighed.
