Taiji 1 vs 2 vs 3: Space, Weight & Setup Compared

Taiji 1 vs Taiji 2 vs Taiji 3: Which Freestanding Tent Should You Buy?
18. September 2026

Start with Taiji 1 for a solo sleeper, Taiji 2 for a pair whose pads fit its floor, and Taiji 3 for two campers wanting more room or three campers after a layout check. The shared attraction is a frame-supported design with connected but detachable inner and fly for simultaneous pitching. The main buying differences are usable space, headroom, complete carrying load and campsite footprint. Do not rely on the retailer's Taiji 3 body copy calling it a two-person tent: its title and brand capacity record need to be read together with the dimensions.

Model Advertised minimum¹ Inner dimensions² Packed dimensions Packed / carried weight
Taiji 1 1450 g 212 cm long; 110 cm maximum / 70 cm end width; inner height 95 cm 50 × 14 × 14 cm Brand lists 1870 g total; current retailer SKU equivalence unverified
Taiji 2 1760 g 210 × 130 cm; inner height 115 cm 42 × 16 × 16 cm Not verified; do not relabel minimum trail as packed weight
Taiji 3 2260 g 220 × 210 cm; inner height 125 cm 50 × 15 × 15 cm Brand lists 2800 g total; current retailer SKU equivalence unverified

¹ Lanshanhike page labels, not measured complete-kit weights. Included components and inner variant must be confirmed. ² Dimensions transcribed from retailer diagrams; not a guarantee of usable sleeping-bag clearance. Floating Cloud 2 differs from the brand specification. All figures checked 17 September 2026; no verified 2025/2026 generation label for these five models.

Taiji 1: a shaped solo floor

Taiji 1's floor is not a 110 cm-wide rectangle. The retailer diagram gives a maximum width of 110 cm and narrower 70 cm ends along its 212 cm length. This matters when you plan where to place a pack or use a wide rectangular pad. The listed 95 cm inner peak is lower than the other Taiji sizes, so compare it with your seated height on an inflated pad. Choose it because the actual solo layout works, not simply because the name contains “1”.

Taiji 2: practical access, but check wide pads

The current retailer drawing gives 210 × 130 cm for the inner floor and 115 cm inner height. Two 64 cm pads use almost all that width. The brand record instead lists 215 × 135 × 120 cm, so selecting the larger dimensions and the retailer's lower weight would create an unverified hybrid specification. Confirm the supplied version. The written two-entrance design is useful for shared access, but it does not create extra sleeping width.

Taiji 3: deliberate extra room

Taiji 3 lists a 220 × 210 cm inner and 125 cm inner peak. Three 64 cm pads total 192 cm, leaving 18 cm nominally across the width. That is a stronger starting point for pad fit, though wall shape and sleeping-bag clearance still matter. For two people, the extra space may be the reason to choose it. Check its 245 × 330 cm outer diagram and allow additional anchor space before booking a small platform.

Read the weight column carefully

The retailer minimums are 1450, 1760 and 2260 g. The brand separately lists Taiji 1 at 1870 g total and Taiji 3 at 2800 g total, while Taiji 2 has a 1950 g minimum-trail figure with specified core components. These labels have different scopes and have not been matched to each current retailer variant. No valid complete-weight comparison comes from treating them as interchangeable.

Best for / Not ideal for

Model Best for Not ideal for
Taiji 1 Solo trips where external-pole setup and attached inner/fly pitching matter Buyers needing maximum seated headroom or a verified storm rating
Taiji 2 Two-person trips prioritizing linked inner/fly pitching and cross-pole structure Two wide pads with generous side clearance; a guaranteed sub-2 kg complete kit
Taiji 3 Two campers wanting more indoor room or three campers after a pad-layout check Solo weight-minimizing trips or small platforms without footprint confirmation

Frequently asked questions

Should two people always buy Taiji 2?

No. Taiji 3 can be the more suitable comfort choice when two pads and gear make the smaller floor restrictive.

Is Taiji 3 automatically stronger because it is larger?

No. Capacity is not a structural rating, and no matched wind test was established.

Are these 2026 versions?

The checked pages do not establish explicit 2026 generations. The Taiji 1/2 vent update mentions pre-2023 designs, which is a different claim.
