1-Person Freestanding Tents: Floating Cloud 1 vs Taiji 1

Best 1-Person Freestanding Tents
18. September 2026

For a solo buyer comparing these 3F UL Gear tents, Floating Cloud 1 is the starting point for a lower advertised minimum and Taiji 1 for its documented external-pole, linked inner/fly setup. The best fit depends on your pad, seated height and where you keep your pack. Neither model is automatically comfortable for every tall sleeper, and neither headline minimum is a verified complete carried weight. This is a focused retailer-range shortlist, not an independent ranking of all one-person tents. If the solo floor does not suit you, a two-person option may be the better purchase.

Model Advertised minimum¹ Inner dimensions² Packed dimensions Packed / carried weight
Floating Cloud 1 1150 g 210 × 70 cm; inner height 102 cm 50 × 13 × 13 cm Not verified for the current Lanshanhike SKU
Taiji 1 1450 g 212 cm long; 110 cm maximum / 70 cm end width; inner height 95 cm 50 × 14 × 14 cm Brand lists 1870 g total; current retailer SKU equivalence unverified

¹ Lanshanhike page labels, not measured complete-kit weights. Included components and inner variant must be confirmed. ² Dimensions transcribed from retailer diagrams; not a guarantee of usable sleeping-bag clearance. Floating Cloud 2 differs from the brand specification. All figures checked 17 September 2026; no verified 2025/2026 generation label for these five models.

The width question is more subtle than it looks

Floating Cloud 1's stated 70 cm width is straightforward but leaves little room beside a wide pad. Taiji 1 reaches a wider middle area but narrows to 70 cm at the ends. Its maximum width should not be advertised as uniform sleeping width. Draw the pad outline within the floor shape before assigning the remaining space to a backpack.

Measure sitting comfort on your actual pad

The inner peaks shown are 102 cm for Floating Cloud 1 and 95 cm for Taiji 1. These are different from outer fly heights. A thick inflatable pad raises your head and shoulders, and the highest point of the roof does not extend over the whole floor. Sit on your inflated pad and compare the height you need with the diagram. A tent may work well for sleeping but feel restrictive when changing clothes.

For tall sleepers, request a useful fit check

Ask for a pitched view with a comparable pad and sleeping bag, rather than only a floor-length number. The relevant issue is clearance at your head and feet at sleeping height. Do not turn a listed 210 or 212 cm floor into a universal maximum user height. Bag loft, pad thickness, pillow and wall slope all affect the result.

Choose the setup you value

Taiji 1's connected inner and fly can matter if wet setup is common. Floating Cloud 1 offers its own pole frame and a lower retailer minimum. Compare the complete dry packages if weight is decisive. The brand's trail/total records are different from the retailer minimums, so this guide does not promise that one fully equipped kit saves an exact number of grams.

When to size up

If you regularly bring a dog, keep bulky gear indoors or spend long evenings in the tent, compare Floating Cloud 2 or Taiji 2. The extra floor space has to justify more load and a larger campsite footprint. It can be worthwhile, but a larger capacity label is not by itself a better solo purchase.

Best for / Not ideal for

Model Best for Not ideal for
Floating Cloud 1 Solo backpacking with one sleeping pad and a preference for a dedicated pole frame Two occupants, generous indoor gear storage, or an unverified strict all-in weight target
Taiji 1 Solo trips where external-pole setup and attached inner/fly pitching matter Buyers needing maximum seated headroom or a verified storm rating

Frequently asked questions

Which one should I buy without trekking poles?

Both have dedicated tent-pole support; choose between their fit and setup features.

Can I keep all my gear inside a one-person tent?

That depends on the pad and pack layout. Check the available floor shape rather than assuming a vestibule substitutes for all indoor storage.

Is the solid inner necessary for solo use?

Occupancy does not decide inner type. Choose by airflow and draft priorities, using the inner guide.
