Taiji 2 vs Floating Cloud 2: Which Fits Your Trip?

Taiji 2 vs Floating Cloud 2: Which Freestanding Tent Fits Your Trip?
18 settembre 2026

Choose Taiji 2 when its documented connected-inner/fly setup and cross-pole architecture fit the way you camp. Choose Floating Cloud 2 when its lower advertised minimum and two-door layout suit your priorities. Both require a fit check for wide pads and a confirmed complete kit weight. The retailer's minimum figures differ by 139 g, but that is not a verified carried-weight difference. Neither the pole layout nor marketing weather language establishes which tent can safely handle a stronger wind. The useful decision is about your setup, sleep system and actual package.

Taiji 2 1760 g 210 × 130 cm; inner height 115 cm 42 × 16 × 16 cm Not verified; do not relabel minimum trail as packed weight

Included components and inner variant must be confirmed. ² Dimensions transcribed from retailer diagrams; not a guarantee of usable sleeping-bag clearance. Floating Cloud 2 differs from the brand specification. All figures checked 17 September 2026; no verified 2025/2026 generation label for these five models.

The setup difference is a real decision point

The Taiji 2 product description explicitly says the inner and fly can remain connected for simultaneous pitching. If you often arrive in rain, reducing the period when an inner is uncovered can be valuable. Practise with the exact model, because connected fabric still needs controlled handling and secure anchors in wind. Do not infer the same setup sequence for Floating Cloud 2 simply from the word freestanding.

Use your pads to choose the floor

Two 64 cm pads require 128 cm before any spare margin. Taiji 2's listed 130 cm width leaves 2 cm nominally; Floating Cloud 2's diagrammed 125 cm inner width is less than the pads' combined width. If those are your actual pads, ask for a photographed layout or consider Taiji 3. Neither tent becomes a spacious wide-pad shelter because it has two doors.

Cross-site dimensions make this especially important. The brand reference lists 215 × 135 × 120 cm for Taiji 2 and 210 × 120 × 110 cm for Floating Cloud 2. The retailer drawings differ. A guide should not silently choose the biggest dimensions from one source and the lowest weight from the other.

Compare a complete purchase, not a headline

Both models offer mesh and solid inner choices. Record the same inner type when comparing, and ask for a complete dry kit measurement including accessories you will carry. The brand trail figures—1950 g for Taiji 2 and 1780 g for Floating Cloud 2—have their own definitions and source records. They do not resolve the exact current retailer kit weight.

The retailer's price ranges overlap: Taiji 2 was displayed at €160–193 and Floating Cloud 2 at €161–184 in the checked variant data. These are a dated listing snapshot, not a landed-cost quote. The chosen variant, current availability and checkout conditions should decide the final price comparison.

Best for / Not ideal for

Model Best for Not ideal for
Taiji 2 Two-person trips prioritizing linked inner/fly pitching and cross-pole structure Two wide pads with generous side clearance; a guaranteed sub-2 kg complete kit
Floating Cloud 2 Two backpackers who want separate doors, or a solo camper prioritizing floor space Two 64 cm rectangular pads without fit confirmation; unanchored exposed sites

Frequently asked questions

Which one should I buy for very windy campsites?

Neither has a verified comparative wind limit in this evidence set. Start with sheltered site choice and suitable proven equipment for the forecast.

Is the 139 g difference decisive?

Only if matched complete-kit measurements support it and all other needs are met. The advertised minimum difference alone is insufficient.

Which is better for two wide-pad users?

Taiji 2 has a slightly wider retailer floor, but still little margin. A larger tent may be the more appropriate answer.
