Why Does Condensation Happen?
Condensation is normal in tents. It occurs when warm, moist air reaches a cooler surface and changes into liquid water. In a shelter, the cooler surface is usually the inside of the rainfly or the inside of a single-wall canopy.
Humidity
Humid air reaches its moisture limit more quickly than dry air. This is why condensation is often more noticeable near lakes, rivers, wet grass, damp soil, or dense vegetation.
A tent pitched in a low depression may collect more moisture than the same tent pitched on slightly raised, well-drained ground. Campsite selection cannot eliminate condensation, but it can reduce the conditions that make it worse.
Temperature differences
Condensation is more likely when the canopy becomes colder than the air inside the tent. Clear nights, light wind, and large temperature differences can all increase moisture on the fabric.

How to Reduce Condensation
